There's tons of free information, great appraiser site links, tips and tricks plus my "just about daily" blog. I try to post everyday….So, lets get to the video….
Let us begin with the turn of the 17th Century….
William and Mary 1690-1730
Queen Anne 1720-1760
Louis XVI, 1760–1789
Chippendale 1755-1790
Sheraton 1790-1810
Federal (Hepplewhite) 1790-1815
Empire (Classical) 1805-1830
Victorian, 1830-1890
The Gothic Revival 1840-1860
Rococo Revival 1845-1870
Naturalistic 1850-1914
Eastlake 1870-1890
Arts & Crafts 1895-1915
Art Nouveau 1896-1914
Art Deco, 1920-1945
Modernism 1940-present
I hope this helps in some way or you at least got something out of it. If you are interested and like me, "use the google" and look at lots and lots of pictures of each. Learn their legs & the woods used in each period. Their feet, their hardware designs, carvings and look for the "tell" of the period. I found that each period has that one particular thing that will resonate with you. I personally have found visual aids to be the best. There are so many great sites and free online tools out there today, but you still can't beat having a pocket field guide and I was surprise they are still in print. I got links to all the stuff on joshlevinespeaks.com …. I haven't found the furniture ID App yet, but I should probably invent one. It would make it a lot easier for the folks in the appraisal, estate and auction businesses. That's for sure.
Okay, we've had fun and I am wrapping up so do your part and subscribe below and share with a friend…also, leave a comment if you would be so kind!
Until next time….
